Sweet Paprika Crescendo Gradient Set Prairie Spring
Barb writes, "This month's flash mob is based on a wonderful childhood image. Raised on farm and a lake, Cynthia and I were encouraged by our dad to learn how to ride horses, one of his favourite pastimes. My first horse was a feisty Welsh pony named Smoky who looked just like the pony in this picture. Smoky helped me learn responsibility and patience and was such a good sport, putting up with all my cowgirl dreams and equestrian ambitions!"
Our friends Debbie and Elizabeth Sullivan from Sweet Paprika have a special 6 colour gradient yarn that we were yearning to try. Known for creating gradients with extra smooth colour transitions, each set contains six 87-yard mini-skeins of Crescendo, a bouncy 4-ply superwash merino wool that is both soft enough to wear next to the skin, and sturdy enough for socks. Deb shared with us the tweaking that she did to get "Prairie Spring" and the specific colours of the grassy fields we were after. The gradient skeins for our set were all dyed with a combination of yellow, blue, orange and brown dyes, in varying amounts.
Deb explained that using the same base colours helps to achieve that cohesive look through the set. To learn more about Deb's dying process, check out her blog post on developing gradients.
These yarns will be available on June 20th at 6 PM on our online store. This gradient set is sold as a collection of 6 mini skeins, each mini has approx 80m/87yds and weighs 20g. The yarn base is 100% superwash Merino wool. The package contains 477m/522yds and weighs 120g. Check out Wild Pony for a coordinated colourway in the same base to put with your mini skein collection.
